AI manifesto

No word on this website has ever been written by an AI or large language model. I have no plans of using AI to write in the future. I'm a human being and I write for myself and other human beings. That creates a connection with the reader and I love that.

I also value thinking things through with my own brain. It's harder and I might not be the smartest. But I don't want to lose the ability to research, think critically, question and draw conclusions.

Sometimes I use Claude AI in my day job to brainstorm or research, but honestly, I haven't found much value in it so far. It's interesting what machines are capable of, sure, but I lean more on the skeptical side of the debate.

Not that I think my position could stop the AI revolution. We're in the middle of that and my opinion isn't gonna change that. Nor do I think that it's all bad. I watch people build workflows, tools and agents with AI and of course it's fascinating. But I don't see myself doing that anytime soon, because I've found that for me (and that's very subjective) it takes the same time to prompt the AI and edit its outcome than just doing it myself.

Maybe it's how my brain works, combined with my values. I want the words on this website and in my emails to be human, and I want readers to be able to trust me.

A brilliant and sad article that is called "Here lies the internet, murdered by generative AI" illustrates this point better than I could. Even before AI, our minds were bombarded with crap on the internet. Information overload is a real thing. Now, we're seeing even more mass-produced crap. I'm starting to wonder where all the servers are to store all this nonsense.

A picture of a waste disposal site comes to mind.

This is my /ai page. I was inspired to make it after seeing Derek Sivers' /ai page. He was inspired by Damola. You can read his AI manifesto here. I'm thankful for the two and support the cause of an internet that is made of connections between humans. Not bots, greedy corporations and government surveillance.

Feel free to create an /ai page on your website too. It can evoke trust and transparency and communicate thoughtful and responsible use of technology.
